Independent Medical Opinion:
The VA will not consider a mental health claim unless you have a formal diagnosis.
Dr. Kane will complete an interview with you and provide a formal diagnosis if you meet the criteria.
Nexus Letters:
Dr. Kane provides an individualized review of your service and mental health records to ensure accuracy and relevance to your claim. Each Nexus Letter is crafted using language tailored to meet VA standards, and crafted to include current literature and references. Confident, confidential, and timely services while delivering veteran-centered service are emphasized.
DBQ:
A Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) is the primary tool the VA uses to determine your rating percentage. As a former C&P Examiner, Dr. Kane has completed hundreds of these forms. She provides a comprehensive clinical evaluation to ensure your DBQ accurately reflects the full severity of your symptoms, social impairment, and occupational impact. Dr. Kane doesn't just check boxes; your clinical story will be told with the precision required for a fair rating.
Filing assistance:
Dr. Kane helps you start to finish filing the mental health portion of your claim.
This includes help reviewing your lay (self) statement, any "statement in support of claim" documents, submitting buddy letters, etc. She coaches you through the whole process.

C&P Exam Prep:
Preparing for your C&P exam can be a VERY stressful experience. To help with the process, we offer:
Basic C&P Exam Prep:
Dr. Kane will meet with you to review your mental health claims packet with you, focus on salient details likely to be discussed in your exam, and provide skills for managing anxiety. Dr. Kane will review the information you've submitted to the VA, and provide feedback on what you should focus on for presenting yourself best during the evaluation.
C&P Exam Prep with Practice Examination. Offers all of the Basic Prep plus:
A practice/mock C&P exam is invaluable if you are nervous about your evaluation. As a former C&P evaluator, Dr. Kane will do a simulated exam. This is helpful for:
- Learning the questions the evaluator will likely ask
- Practicing your responses
- Recalling and conveying the details that communicate to the evaluator the information that will make the difference when they are filling out the forms to send to the VA
- Review the documentation the evaluator will submit to the VA and what is important for each section.
- Debriefing
Professional Consultations for VSOs & Attorneys
Dr. Kane offers specialized consultation services for Veterans Service Officers (VSOs) and Attorneys. Navigating the clinical complexities of mental health claims requires a high level of expertise. She provides professional clinical insights and medical record analysis to help legal and veteran advocates build the strongest possible cases for their clients.
